What You Want Is In The Limo Book Cover

Forty years have passed since 1973, but it remains one of the most fascinating years in rock history. The list of bands on tour that year is astonishing, CBGB’s and The Roxy opened, and rock and roll excess became the norm.

Author Michael Walker dissects the seminal rock and roll year of 1973.  Using the record-breaking tours of The Who, Alice Cooper and Led Zeppelin as a jumping-off point, Walker talks us backstage, in the limo, and everywhere in between.  This book gives incredible insight into how some of the most famous bands rolled back in the day.

In this interview we talk about why the 60’s didn’t have the infrastructure to handle the giant tours of the 70’s, how the backstage pass was born, and what unexpected turns the biggest bands in music took after the year ended.
